Commissions

Commissions are a great way to personalize your original painting. Working from my photos (or possibly yours), you can choose a specific size and/or image to hang on your wall.

How long does it take to have a commission produced?

Commission time will vary depending on the size of the painting, the complexity of the subject matter and my availability, but should take no longer than two months and in some cases less.

Do I meet with the artist?

Not necessarily. We can talk by phone, by Skype, or in person.

Is there a contract?

Yes. I will write up a contract outlining the commission and confirming all of the particulars. These include the size, the subject matter, the date of completion, the cost, whether the painting will be framed, shipping charges, etc.  This contract will ensure both parties are in complete agreement with all the details of the commission.

Is there a down payment?

Yes, a down payment of 50% will be required for me to begin the commission. This payment will be expected with the signed and agreed upon contract.

How much do commissions usually cost?

Commissions typically cost 10% more than a regular painting. This additional amount reflects the extra time and effort required for a commission.

What is the exact process?

During our meeting, we will discuss your particular interests. Are you interested in a specific size, subject matter, or color scheme? After that, I will create a scaled photograph with the agreed upon composition and colors. I will email and or mail a copy of this photo for your approval. Once I receive your approval, I will mail you a contract. Sign the contract, include your deposit, and I will begin the commission.

Do I get to approve a sketch?

Yes. You will be able to review the commission at least three times. Once, after I have created a photo based on the agreed upon composition, once during the painting process, and again upon completion of the commission.

What if I am not happy with the work?

Every attempt will be made to make sure you are 100% satisfied with the painting. If you are unsatisfied with the final painting, and we are unable to resolve your complaints, I will apply your deposit to a painting of your choice from my inventory.

Will it be framed?

The painting can be framed if that is your preference. There will be an additional cost for framing

How is it shipped? What are the costs?

Completed commissions will be shipped by FedEx and completely insured to the destination of your choice.
